The Value of Honesty

Reggie Damone worked at McDonalds and gave up a $185,000 chequeReggie Damone is a low-income worker who receives government-issued food stamps and works in a McDonald's restaurant.

One morning, he was searching for a piece of paper to write a phone number on and came across an envelope that had a cheque for $185,000 in it.

For Reggie, this amount of money could easily have paid his bills for many years and would have changed his life. However, Reggie did not cash this cheque, he simply remembered the wise words his mother had taught him as a child: If you take something, you lose three times that amount —and if you do something good, something good comes back to you.

Patience

Patience is a virtue One of the hardest skills for us to master is patience.

The value of patience is immense. It counters the dangerous emotions of impulse and of acting without consideration.

In this impulse driven world, it is much harder to develop a patient outlook.

Everything can be done and everything can be bought, wether it be paid for in full or purchased on finance.

As it is available immediately, why wait? Why not do it now? Why not buy it now?

One of the greatest feelings in the world is that of feeling that you have earned the right to something.

Gandhi and the Copper Coin

Gandhi valued the copper coin because of the love with which it was given. One day, Mahatma Gandhi was traveling from village to village collecting for the Charkha Sangh fund.

One of the villages that he visited was called Orissa.

Upon hearing Gandhi's speech, an old woman struggled to get to the front so that she could meet Gandhi.

When she got to meet Gandhi, she took out a small copper coin and gave it to him.

The Charkha Sangh fund was managed by another gentleman called Jamnalal Bajaj.

True Value

No matter what happens to us in life, we still retain our orignal value. One day, a teacher stood before his class and taught them an important lesson.

The teacher pulled out a crisp $20 note and asked his students how much this note was worth.

The students all replied that the note was worth $20.

The teacher then dropped the $20 note on the floor and began to step on it, until the note became tattered.

'How much is this note now worth?' The teacher asked his students.
