Bouncing Back to Win Gold

Karoly Takacs won two Olympic Gold medals.Karoly Takacs is an Olympic hero that most people have not heard of. However, his story is one of the greatest Olympic stories.

In 1938, Karoly was the top pistol shooter in the world. He was expected to easily win gold in the 1940 Tokyo Olympics.

One day, however, everything changed for Karoly. As he was training with his army squad, a hand grenade exploded and his right hand, his shooting hand, was blown off.

Karoly spent a month in hospital. He was depressed and did not know what to do. He then decided he would do the impossible.

Self-Control and the Shaolin Fighter

Shaolin warriors have mastered self-control. There is one characteristic that one must develop in order to live a successful and peaceful life.

This belief is that we are in control of our lives, what we do and decide has an influence on what we do.

With this belief, we feel empowered and in control of our direction.

Without it, we feel frustrated and bossed around by life itself.

Spend a day adopting this belief.

Hitler and the Art of Convincing

Hitler was a master convincer Man's greatest strength is also his greatest weakness. His ability to be convinced into doing literally anything has led to the birth of religion and to the death of freedom.

Nobody learnt to convince people of anything better than Adolf Hitler.

Hitler mastered the art of mass-communication. He did this by the passion with which he spoke.

It is a primal instinct of ours to follow those who seem most certain of where they are going.

Doubt

Shakespeare teaches us that our doubts are traitors that stop us from achieving our goals. Shakespeare once wrote that "Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt."

As Human Beings, our most prominent need is that of certainty. We need to know that what we do can be done and can benefit us, before we actually start to do it.

Although this need is important to our very survival, it can also be the cause of us not doing many things that we have wanted to. We may doubt our ability to do it and, as a result, fail before we have even started.

Take some time to think of all that you wanted to do, but have not done, because you doubted your ability to do it.
