Choosing the Right Challenges

Tiger Woods focusses on winning the right tournamentsShortly after winning the Masters in 1997, Tiger Woods was asked if he could win golf's Grand Slam by winning all four major tournaments in a year.

This was something that had not been done before in the history of the game.

Tiger Woods answered that this was possible as it only implied winning four tournaments in a season. He then said that it was important to make sure that you won the right four!

There have been many people who have won more than four golf tournaments in a year. However, we do not know who most of them are. We do know who Tiger Woods is simply because he made sure that he won the right four tournaments.

This is the difference between success and failure. Like Tiger Woods, each challenge we face is like a tournament. The problem is that most of us focus on winning the wrong tournaments and we put our focus and energy on the wrong challenges. We succeed at those that give us little in return, ensuring that we do not have time to go after those challenges that can really take our lives to the next level.

Which challenges are you spending your time focusing on at the moment? If you were to achieve them all, what success will you achieve? What challenges are you ignoring that could possible be of even more value to you if you successfully completed them?
