Khalil Gibran and His Mother

Khalil Gibran said that his mother was his wings.Khalil Gibran was once sitting with his mother and talking to her about a book that he was writing.

During the conversation, he started to talk about angels and also about how he, too was an angel.

His mother was confused by this, how could he be an angel? Angels have wings and fly, Khalil's mother asked. You do not have wings and do not fly, therefore how can you be an angel, she continued.

Khalil then placed both of his arms on his mother and said, I am angel and these are my wings.

This beautiful story teaches us the true value of those who support and love us. They are the ones who help us to succeed and to become angels through the virtues and character that we develop.

Who provides your wings? Who has helped you develop the most? More importantly, who sees you as their wings and how can you help them to fly even higher?
