The Power of Now

Successful people realise the power of doing things now. Many people live their lives in the past. They find their source of happiness in days gone by.

Others, however, live their lives in the future. They find their strength in what is to come.

To do this is to rob yourself of the only thing that you truly possess. This great possession is the moment that you are in at present.

Theodore Roosevelt gallantly advises us, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."

The only place to live is in the present.

The past is over, it cannot be controlled. The future is only yours if you make today count.

There is great power in this idea. To understand the power of the present is a source of true strength.

One of Shakespeare's most insightful ideas was spoken by Iago. "This is the night that either makes me or for does me quite." To understand these words is to understand the powerful concept of cause and effect. Everything you do has a consequence that will one day benefit or hinder you. Similarly, anything you do not do has a similar power. It is true, we reap what we sow.
