Habits

We all have habits we want to include and remove from our lives. Habits are a crucial part of our lives that we cannot do without.

Naturally, our heart beats out of habit, our eye lids blink out of habit and our brain thinks out of habit.

In addition to this, there are many habits that we have picked up during our lives. The way we talk, dress, wash, work and travel are all mainly habitual.

Habits are easy because it is easier to do something in a way that you have done hundreds of ways before than to do it in a way that you have never yet experienced.

However, habits have one major disadvantage.

When you see someone doing something wrong, you can immediately recognise that they are doing something incorrectly and to help them to correct it.

With habits, however, it is very difficult for you to realise whether what you are doing is the best way to do it. Just because it is the way have always done it does not mean that it is the best way.

What do you do out of habit? Is this habit constructive? Is this habit effective? We very rarely examine our habits because we do not realise what a large impact they have on our lives. Our habits determine the quality of our life and if we want to improve our lives, we need to start with improving our habits. After all, the greatest leaders have got the most people to change their habits so that incorporates something that they desire.
