Beliefs

Our reaction to traffic lights is a prime example of social conditioning. A belief is a rule by which we live our lives. However, most beliefs have been conditioned into us by others or by society.

A prime example of this is a person who are told that they are overweight. They often try to diet several times, even by using effective diet systems, but fail to see their results because their own beliefs about themselves will always triumph over will power and desire.

The reason for this is simple, they believe deep within themselves that they are overweight. Due to this belief they simply cannot become what they think about because it will contradict this belief.

There is great wisdom in the fact that if you change your thoughts and beliefs, then you change your life. This is true in every sense, because your external circumstance is always a reflection of the combined effects of your beliefs of yourself.

Take some time to ponder various aspects of your life. The ones that are successful are so because you have positive beliefs supporting them. The areas that are lacking are so because they are supported by negative beliefs.

Find out what these negative beliefs are and from where they came. How valid are they? How credible are they? Do they make sense? The answer to these is usually no.

No great man has ever succeeded without having first questioned their own beliefs and ammending them to suit their goals in life.
