Cycling Around the World
Submitted by editor on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 07:37.
Mark Beaumont, a British cyclist, is motivated by being the fastest and being the best.Last Friday, Mark completed his goal of cycling around the world solo. He completed this is just 195 days, which is a new world record and has replaced the previous one of 276 days. However, Mark's journey has not been without incident. He has had to endure floods, road rage and also being knocked off of his bike by an elderly motorist who drove through a red light. However, Mark's persistence and determination has caused him to succeed. Throughout the journey, Mark also carried a small teddy bear with him that had a tracking device. Throughout the journey, students at his old school followed Mark's journey and geography lessons were tailored around the country that he was in. Similarly, language classes and cooking classes followed a similar theme. Perhaps the biggest achievement of all concerning Mark's journey was that all of the students in the school decided to replicate it and to cycle 18,000 miles (the total distance on Mark's journey), between them. What goal or dream do you have that you could take and how would it affect those around you? Bookmark this post with: [ What's This? ] |
